On this site, I feel myself 'reduced' by circumstances to attempt an Internet form of bare-faced begging for money, i.e. the situation overrides any reservations I have about the situation - I don't see any other way out. I am lucky enough to get work now and then, but even if I got a well-paid full-time job tomorrow, it would not solve things overnight, by any means!

The reasons (stated without proof or elaboration) : Thatcherism

My circumstances : for starters, I live in rented accommodation, one room to myself (about 4m by 4m) with shared kitchen etc. I get incredible problems with noise both from within the same house and next-door. The problem with moving elsewhere is that you have no security of tenure. The fact that I have no immediate prospects of being thrown out of my current accommodation overides (most) negative characteristics. I am on the housing list, but since Thatcher initiated the rundown in social housing, prospects of relief in that direction are low in the near future.

I don't drink alcohol or smoke (although the former is purely due to circumstances, not from moral convictions). I have no car.
