Tomb Raider 2, Lara Croft and the Cradle of Life in Snowdonia (mostly in the same area of 'Inn of the Sixth Happinness', also set in China
The release on August 22 2003 of Tomb Raider 2 is expected to trigger massive interest in Snowdonia, the location of a Chinese village in the film.
Nearly a year after Angelina Jolie arrived on the shores of Llyn Gwynant with 150 cast and crew members the area is about to receive international exposure and tourism agencies are at work behind the scenes to ensure that Wales receives recognition as the real star of the sequel.
Seeking out the locations where Lara is seen battling with her adversary Chen Lo, although identifying the landscape of Snowdonia, may be a challenge in itself because the scenes have been transformed by computer-generated imaging,
Nant Gwynant was the main Welsh location, with other sequences filmed at Pen y Pass, Moel Siabod, near Capel Curig, the Alexandra Slate Quarry near Carmel and Ffynnon Llugwy.
Tomb Raider 2 is certainly expected to prompt a flood of visitors to the Llyn Gwynant camp site, which accommodated many of the film crew and is situated in the heart of some of the most dramatic scenery in the film.
The camp now has the potential to offer Tomb Raider-style adventure holidays.
More than 60 businesses have already benefited from the production, including the Seiont Manor Hotel, Llanrug, where Jolie stayed, and the Ty'n y Coed Hotel in Capel Curig.
The production brought some surprise benefits to the area, including 30 members of the Chinese community in Caernarfon who were drafted in as extras and a local farmer who was asked to supply chickens, a gaggle of geese and a mule.
